I've learned so much from this site, and have found so many other links to helpful products.

This brought me to mattress protectors. I've had an older one for a few years, nothing special, fits very well, cotton/poly and a terry style wrap around. Paying careful attention to the many valuable links and posts here, I thought a new separate topic was warranted, especially since stains, etc.. can and will void a mattress warranty.

My needs are fairly simple.

1. Maybe just a hint of comfort on top, no thick quilt.

2. BREATHABLE - Don't want to defeat the purpose of the new mattress altogether.

3. Natural fabrics if possible.

4. At least water resistant.

This site led me to many links and discussions. These products are what I found most interesting and suitable.

St. Dormeir Natural Wool Mattress Pad quilted in 100% cotton terry cloth cover... and it is machine washable.
At $159 for a queen, thanks for this site finding the lowest price (so far)

This one seems a bit puffy for my use, not to mention a bit pricey.

Protects your mattress while keeping you comfortable
Outlast® hi-tech liner under shell adapts to changing skin temperature
100% cotton fabric cover
Soft 100% polyester fill, backing and skirt

Very interesting.
Oeko-tex® certified top made of 100% rayon from bamboo
Filled with plush synthetic
50% polyester/50% cotton skirt fits up to 19" deep mattresses

Sounds good.

Organic Cotton Matelasse Knit Mattress Protector -Best Seller!
Starting at: $178.00
Unlike many other organic cotton stretch knits which only feature the top layer as organic, our GOTS certified Organic Cotton Matelasse does not contain polyester on the bottom or in the center. This fantastic cover is made from the same ticking material as our natural latex mattresses so you never compromise comfort.
This fitted mattress cover wraps the top and sides of your mattress for added protection against dirt, surface stains, snags and body oils. Put it on then add sheets or do as many of our customers do with this high quality, soft luxurious Matelasse CozyPure® cover and use it as a sheet. You will love the feel next to your skin. Quick and easy to remove. Machine wash and dry.

Proudly Made in the USA, Norfolk VA by CozyPure®.

I'm also starting to look for some good sheets.
Learning about sheet myths as well ;)

Take a look at the smartsilk products. Not cheap but may offer a high level of of comfort, temp regulation and dust mite resistance.

Costco has great prices on their products.

Hope this helps.

The lowest price around for the St. Dormeir Natural Wool Mattress Pad just got much lower. FloBeds is having a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale and the St. Dormeir mattress pad is currently 30% off, at $112.30 in queen size including shipping.

I just ordered mine!
