Question About "Zoned" Coils or Latex

Hi, all.

The Leggett & Platt Combi-zone is renown for its zoning.

King: 1,414 support coils — 5 Zones of Premium Support
— Perimeter, Top + Bottom: 184 coils (16 gauge, 10 turn fabric encased coils)
— Perimeter, Two Sides: 200 coils (16 gauge, 10 turn fabric encased coils)
— Head + Foot: 616 coils (14 gauge, 5 turn fabric encased coils)
— Center: 414 coils (17 gauge, 10 turn fabric encased coils)

Here is where I am confused: Does the above not indicate that the Center, with 17-gauge coils, is softer than the rest of the mattress? Is it that both your pelvis and lower back are meant to have extra support (and thus be under firm coils), or only your pelvis is meant to be?

Thank you.

These are smaller coils so there are more of them per the same area. As a result, overall it will be firmer and more supportive.

By the way, I recently found out that the wholesale price for Leggett and Platt Quantum Edge Elite Combi-Zone in Canada is
(if you buy a roll of five): full $91, full XL $94, queen $123, king $146 per each. All prices in Canadian dollars. Where were you planning to buy your coils from?

Open to suggestions! I would be happy at that price. My one gripe is that they are known for being overall quite firm, and I would prefer something a bit softer.

As for Quantum Edge Combi-Zone, the only place I know besides Arizona Premium (mattresses.net, diymattress.net) that sells them is this store in Iowa: www.pierce-furniture.com/shop-mattresses...ntum-edge-elite.html
If you lived in Toronto, maybe, we could try to band five people together to order at wholesale price.

Or if you want to subdivide the order and ship, that would work as well.

Is this correct? More coils means it is firmer?

Also, is it advisable to have both your pelvis and lower back subject to more firmness?

I don't have space and tools to unwrap the roll of five and vacuum pack for shipping. Whoever can do that, can make a good business on Ebay or Amazon. I would gladly pay CAD $250-$300 plus shipping within Canada. Right now because of the exchange rate, I would pay at least CAD$550 for queen, while wholesale here is CAD$123. Ouch.

Yes, more coils per area means more force, so more support. And, yes, firmer under hips is great; otherwise, hips sink much lower than shoulders (which are lighter), bending your spine instead of keeping it straight.

Hi, happycat.

My apologies, but I must not be being clear. Let me please re-explain:

I know we need more support (firmness) under our hips. :-)

What I am asking is: Do we ALSO need more support/firmness under the lower back? This does not make sense.
