Looking for Outlet in Houston, Tx area for latex mattresses 29 Nov 2013 10:37 #1

When I was a child in the late fifties, my parents had a "rubber" bed, as they called it. 50+ years later my sister is still using this bed. I recently slept on this "rubber" bed and it is STILL comfortable with no outward signs of "breakdown" having no lumping, sagging or deterioration.

My husband and I are side/back sleepers and are looking for a king size bed that is "plush" enough to "sink" in, but has a good support system.

We would like something similar to my parents "rubber" bed as we are tired of our mattresses "breaking down" within a few years.

Any suggestions in the Houston, Texas area? I would really like to be able to see and lay on the bed before buying it.

Hi Jeannie,

Post #2 here should be helpful and includes the better options and possibilities I'm aware of in the Houston area.

Just as a reference ... your parent's bed is likely a very basic mattress with a single layer of Dunlop latex which was often sold at Sears (similar to the mattress in the video here ).
