Any difference between Tempurpedic's "Breeze" models and their non-breeze counterparts? 04 Sep 2013 12:22 #1

Is there any difference, other than cooling, between Tempurpedic's Cloud Supreme and Cloud Supreme Breeze, and again with the Rhapsody and Rhapsody Breeze?

There doesn't seem to be, according to the Tempurpedic website, though of course they're not that transparent about specifics. In theory, shouldn't each of these pairs of beds feel the same in terms of firmness/support/contour/etc when you try them out (even if the Breezes are better at cooling)?

I ask because I haven't been able to see the pairs of beds side-by-side in any showroom. I've tried the Cloud Supreme and Cloud Supreme Breeze on different days in different stores, but I could have sworn the Breeze felt a little more comfortable. Of course, that could be due to quirks in those particular floor models, but are they meant to feel the same?

I'm considering Select Foam and Brooklyn Bedding's versions of these beds. But further complicating things is that SF's beds make no specific comparison to any Breeze model in their beds, while BB has distinct beds that compare to each model's Breeze and non-Breeze version. Any thoughts?

Hi colchao,

Tempurpedic doesn't disclose the specifics of their mattresses but the odds are good that the foam layers are the same or very similar with the exception of the gel added to the Breeze models.

Tempurpedic "rates" them as being the same but many people have said they can tell a difference between them although this would be very subjective and would depend on whether both of the mattresses they are testing are broken in, whether they are comparing in "real time" or based on "memory" (which is unreliable) and on their individual perceptions and their sensitivity to smaller differences. I have seen no consistent "patterns" in any comparisons between them.

It would probably be fair to say that they are very "similar" but beyond this it would depend on each person's perceptions and more on the many other variables that can result in memory foam feeling different in different circumstances and for different people than it would on differences between the "feel" of the mattresses themselves.

Select Foam compares their beds to both the Breeze and non breeze Tempurpedic models (you can see some of their articles in a google site search here ) and Brooklyn Bedding has specific comparisons because their PureCool material uses a more advanced and more costly technology to provide its cooling benefits so they differentiate them based on cooling.

Hi Phoenix,

Thanks again for another very helpful response. Indeed, SF seems to compare its mattresses to the Breeze and non-Breeze models interchangeably, depending on what webpage/article you're looking at.

As for BB, I think in the end I'll have to call them to see how much cooler their "Purecool" mattresses are from the merely "Cool" ones, as that's a big priority for me. But at least I'm getting closer! It'll probably be a choice between 2 BB mattresses and 2 from SF.
