All-natural dunlop manufacturers? 14 Nov 2013 19:12 #1

Latex Green is the only producer of non-blended dunlop latex I can think of. Who are the others? Do they use the older molded process or the newer continuous pour process?

Trying to expand my latex knowledge base :)

I believe Green Sleep makes their own all natural Dunlop. I believe SleepTek does also now that I think of it. Edit: sleeptek doesn't, I just reread their material. They get from a supplier.

Hi nej,

There are dozens around the world including Latex Green ... Arpico ... Artilat ... Latexco (including continuous pour up to 4") ... GommaGomma ... CoCo latex ( Latex Global ) ... Eco Latex ... Heveafoam ... Patex ... SapsaLatex (Continuous Pour up to 7" and made by Mountaintop in North America) ... Thaitex ... among many others. Most of these mainly use the molded Dunlop process but there is more on their sites. Sapsa owns the patent for continuous pour process that uses pincores on the belt and which can be poured up to 7" thick. Any of the others that use a continuous pour process would pour in thinner layers without pincores (which can be punched in afterwards).

@ dn,

I don't believe they produce their own although they apparently own the plantation that produces the raw latex. They also imply on their site that they use their own specific latex hybrid clone ... North Malaysia 600 (RRIM 600) ... but it's actually one of the most common hybrids in SE Asia. .

@phoenix, interesting... I went back and read the Green Sleep material, on the rubber tree variety they use - I can't say I entirely paid attention to it the first time. I took it as they felt they were using a quality rubber tree, and using a consistent one was a statement of their quality controls, and the document you linked to would seem to not dispute that. I don't know I personally thought they'd invented their own subspecies, but reading the marketing again I can totally see what you're saying. I was of the impression from greensleep.com / UK English version that they produced the Dunlop themselves, but who knows... It's as possible they use their latex and have someone produce it for them on contract.

Hi dn,

At one point their site had different wording that implied that they were using their own rubber tree clone and there were many people who thought that this was the case but their site makes it more clear now that they aren't. It was just marketing and not a reflection of the quality of the latex they used.

Hi Phoenix,

I'm guessing you mean this info and the little 'North Malaysia 600' picture logo they use next to it. Seemingly their old words.

North Malaysia 600 is Green Sleep's own exclusive proprietary process. Green Sleep's Natural Rubber cores are derived from their very own tree farm. These trees have been bud grafted to create the North Malaysia 600 seed which in turn produces the purest most elastic rubber on the planet. No latex or synthetic fillers are added to core production.

The current words on their website are definitely more clear ( www.greensleep.ca/en/components ):

Green Sleep’s Natural Rubber cores are derived from our very own tree farm. These trees have been bud grafted to create the North Malaysia 600 which, in turn, produces the purest, most elastic rubber on the planet; no synthetic fillers are added to core production.

I do see what you mean
