What bed sheets are you sleeping on? 09 Jan 2014 18:15 #1

I've been doing my research on bed sheets and trying to decide on a set. I thought this would be a great community to get some opinions from. If you could just post your current bedding situation (mattress protector, sheets, comforter, duvet, etc.) and give a short review and where you got it or any other helpful info. I think if this thread takes off it could be another nice little resource for anyone looking for bedding reviews.

Hi sleepypeepy,

Great idea for a thread :)

We have 2 sets of Charisma sheets which are 400 thread count Egyptian cotton purchased at Costco about 3 years ago and another set of Egyptian cotton purchased at Fred Meyers (which I believe is about 500 thread count) and is about 5 years old. All of them are still in perfect condition.

My mattress protector is the NaturaProtect Deluxe from Natura. It's a fairly thin wool/cotton protector but is still a little thicker than I would ultimately prefer for a protector and it also has a waterproof membrane which in retrospect I would probably avoid next time in favor of one like the Dormeir or perhaps even a stretch knit cotton which doesn't have a membrane because I do sleep hot on some occasions. It's washable but difficult to wash and takes about 3 cycles to dry in the dryer. It's still in fairly good condition after about 3 years although it does show a little wear and staining.

My wife and I are using Eucalyptus Origins™ 400 Thread Count Striped Sheet Set purchased at Bed Bath and Beyond. We also have a set of Egyptian cotton 500 thread count. I am not sure what we are using at the moment for a bed protector as we are in the process of looking at new beds.

I sleep on Smooth Linen sheet from Rough Linen. They are simply amazing. You stay very very dry all night and they become really smooth after a couple of wash. If you can afford them, go for it, and Tricia who make them she is simply amazing.

To me, linen is far superior to coton for breathability and general confort. Is it rough? I little bit, but in a positive way. It's freaking comfortable. I'm sold to them now, I know that I may look like I work for them, but unfortunately no!

I just brought a set of these sheets home tonight and was planning to wash them tomorrow to put on my new bed. After I got home I looked at the BB&B website for reviews. It was split between people who liked them alot and those who said they pill terribly after only a short time of use and seem to wear thin. Now I'm not so sure...

If I might ask, how long have you used your Eucalyptus Origins and how do you like them? I had an Egyptian cotton set in hand, but put them back in favor of trying the Origins. Now I"m wondering if I should keep them. Thanks!

We have had one set for 2 and a half years and they have not pilled yet and have held up really well. We love them. However I will say I picked up a second set for my wife 2 Christmas's ago and she washed them before we even used them and for some reason they pilled. We did return them to BBB for a full refund and got the Egyptian sheets instead.

I was thinking on trying another set again just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I recently picked up a set of Sheex "performance sheets" from home goods for $70. I had been looking at these for a while but couldn't really justify the $150 price tag. Essentially, they're made of a similar material to underarmour clothing-(spandex and polyester i believe). I'm pretty happy with them so far. They're very soft and comfortable to lay on. The top sheet is fairly heavyweight but supposedly is cool in hot temperatures (won't know until summer obv.) I've been very comfortable in them so far and have no complaints. I"m not sure I'd pay retail price for them but definitely worth the $70 i spent. They look like they should hold up very well over time.

I couldn't decide on a quality set of sheets and needed some for my new mattress so I picked up some from Target for $42. Don't really like them and I feel kinda sticky when I'm sleeping. I'm not sure if its because they aren't breathable due to chemical treatments or some other reason. They do say wrinkle resistant. Anyway, still on the search for some good bedding. Thanks for the replies.

Hi sleepypeepy,

To name a couple brands I've seen mentioned here positively, in addition to those above:
- coyuchi (I suspect premium priced)
- cozypure (I recall them having excellent prices for organic cotton, albeit natural color only)
