DIY FAIL & shout out to Flexus Comfort Mattress !! 15 Apr 2014 10:12 #1

Well the devil  is in the details now has meaning for me. I tried a DIY. I was really into it because I was learning about latex, feeling savvy  , and had tried out mattresses, located a factory direct company I trusted. Trusting the company gave me confidence to build. My own achilles heel was that I worked so hard at finding the best prices that I was swayed by an exceptional price on a core that would have thrown off my PPP. Ultimately distrusted my final choice. I chose a SUPER :woohoo: firm core that upon reflection would have been like sleeping on the ground. Then when I found out my order was going to take a long time because my cover was not in stock. I took pause, thankfully, giving me time to select what is truly the right mattress for my husband & I.

This time I have it all!!

I am sleeping on a lovely latex mattress now from Flexus Comfort Mattress in Covina Ca. I highly recommend this company. My mattress is dual comfort in a 10 inch E. King, stretch cover in organic cotton w/ wool. 2 layers of Latex Green & 100% Natural Talalay on top. We started on the firm side, anticipating the addition of a topper for extra softness. We may not need it, so I am glad we went with a 10 inch.

I worked with the owner Henry Ortiz & it was a pleasant shopping experience. They really have nice prices & great warranty, exchange policies.

Through April 2014 they have a sale that exceeds the MU discount. www.flexuscomfort.com

Hi KSueSmith,

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback about Flexus and about the DIY process ... I appreciate it.

As you know ... I think highly of Henry and Flexus and they are certainly knowledgeable and experienced "mattress people".

It sounds like you made a great choice ... and most importantly ... congratulations on your new mattress :)

Thank you Phoenix! The Members List w/ discount, forum, blogs, articles & your own helpful direction at that critical buying stage are a real service in this tight economy.

I was a wreck from sleeping 11 years on a mattress I knew was not right for me in the first months of ownership. It seemed likely that I would buy a new mattress & repeat that experience, so I waited until my body really couldn't take it anymore.

It's great to know you have spent hard earned money on true, long lasting value. Got those PPP's covered. We feel better already.

Hi KSueSmith

Would you share the details of your mattress construction. I'm considering something very similar.

Hello, Brooke.

Our bed is 3 layers of natural latex. It finishes at 10 inches. The bottom & middle layers are Latex Green dunlop & the top is all natural talalay. You will choose density depending on your weight, sleeping positions & preference in feel. It comes in a nice cover which zips all the way around & is well constructed. Our top layer is organic cotton & stretches so you can appreciate the latex.

We choose firm bottom, firm, med top for hubby & firm bottom, med, soft for myself. Yours will be customized for you & Henry the owner can help with that. I suggest you go to their website & then give them a call.

Dunlop is denser & feels firmer than Talalay in the same ILD, so it would be good if you have tried some dunlop, like a Savvy Rest. I prefer mine to a Savvy Rest because Savvy Rest uses a heavy cotton ticking which is not stretchy. Then you get a 3 inch comfort layer in Natural Talalay.

Good Afternoon KSueSmith

Thank you for this information. I am considering the same sort of set up as your hubby for myself. Either firm firm medium or firm medium medium.

I tried a firm 8 inch core locally, and I liked it. The ild range was 31-35. There was also a medium 8 inch core (25-30 ild), it was comfortable too.

Latex is just amazing. It felt like I was floating on a thin film.
