Most manufactures will custom make what you ask them. You can reach out to the places in the first post and ask them to make what you want. Most are willing to make latex on top of pocket coil without any foam.

I looked at all the websites from the first post and only found one mattress, Crescendo Latex Solo Sleep System from Ideal Mattress, that looked interesting. Other manufacturers, if they don't use latex in their standard mattresses, how could they make one for you? Did you ask for specific combinations of pocket coils and latex? What option were you given and at what prices? Can you share any information?

Their websites aren't accurate or don't showcase everything they have. Even if they are not making latex mattresses regularly, if they are manufacturers they can special order the toppers from their sources and build a mattress. Call them up, most are knowledgeable and helpful. I even searched "mattress manufacturer, "mattress factory", and "custom mattress" on google maps and hit up ones that looked good.

My goal is to get pocket coil and 3" of latex on top in a King. I have gotten quotes in the $900 - 1500 range mostly. Some have dunlop only, others carry talalay. Some places have more options for firmness than others. Some places are more willing to share details than others. There's one place I am leaning towards (thats not on the original thread here). I will let know how it works out, but right now I am still trialing my memory foam hybrid bed and shopping around for a latex hybrid replacement.

Yippee, I'm so happy! I went to Mississauga this morning and came home with a new latex mattress. I got such great service from John at Naturelle. Oh, and they do put all the organic stickers on all mattresses.
I have to say that it is a bit of a challenge to install your own latex mattress! I guess I'll see how we sleep tonight.
Thanks for all the information on this forum, it has been beyond helpful.

Thank you Sensei!

Well, here's a quick update...

The first night was not good - the latex mattress and pillows were firm and unforgiving (we came from soft pillows and an old mattress with a memory foam topper). Hubby and I looked at each other in the morning, disappointed, and I suggested we could always get a softer topper.... We have a firm 6" base and a med-soft 3" topper (apparently more firm than the med-firm 3" topper).

So, I searched here for help and found out about walking on the mattress! This was news to me... Each day now I have crawled and then walked on the mattress and stomped on the pillows.

This has made a huge difference and although we do not yet love the mattress, it is acceptable now. Even the second night was better than the first. Today was the third day of carefully walking on the mattress (it's sitting on a box spring, so I'm cautious). Waiting for the law of diminishing returns to kick in :).

One thing I do love about the mattress is the non-odour. It doesn't smell at all. This is great for us as we are sensitive to odours.

Linda

Hi lvanderb. Another thing is your body might need to get used to it; give it a month. Also, if you have non-stretchy mattress protector, try sleeping without it. I didn't see medium-soft option on Naturelle website, but assuming that it's their softest option (called "gentle") at 25-29 ild, on top of of firm 35-42 ild core, the mattress still sounds quite firm to me (was it Jasmine?). If you sleep on your side, I doubt you will ever get used to it, and your shoulder and hip pain might only get worse overtime. Well, in the worst case, if your spine alignment is fine, you might just need to add a 2'' soft foam or soft latex layer around 20ild. Naturelle does sell 14-19 ild topper; don't know why in their mattresses they only have 25-29 as their softest option (perhaps knowing people will have to spend more money on topper). You can also try to add HR foam topper, for example, getting 2'' of soft Koosh Natural high resiliency foam layer from Foamite: www.foamite.com/custom-cut-foam/order-foam/ . Or order a topper from Amazon or Bed&Bath.

Thanks happycat8 - very helpful!
Today I removed our non-stretchy mattress cover (apparently you are also psychic, lol). Then we'll see from there. We may go ahead and order the 2" Gentle topper from Naturelle.

Yes, we did get the Jasmine mattress 6" + 3". And, med-soft is not available online - pickup only. It's around 34 ild - John told me, I forgot. But he did say it's next in firmness to firm, maybe I should have gotten the medium 3", but I really felt it was too soft. I liked the feel of the med-soft the best.

Happily we don't currently have hip or shoulder issues (well, unless rotator cuff strain counts).

I will continue to update.

Their medium (online) is 24-32, so about 28 ild. Medium-soft must be something like 20-24, so about 22 ild. I doubt you would be able to sleep on 34 ild unless you are very young and very light. Look at typical latex configurations, even "Firm" has 20ild 3'' layer on top: spindlemattress.com/blogs/faq/specifications-latex-mattress
