best room temperature for sleeping? 19 Oct 2014 00:36 #2

Hi elapid,

It really depends on the person because there isn't a standard temperature for all people and to some degree each person will need to experiment but sleep specialists will recommend cooler temperatures because the body's temperature set point is lower during the night and this helps to maintain the temperature that is most conducive to sleep. Both too cold and too warm (either shivering or perspiring) can interfere with sleep. Somewhere in the mid 60's would be the most common recommendation but it could be anywhere from about 60° to about 72° for individual people.
