Bought the BB Aloe Alexis -- Now the Protector -- Glideaway Natural Wool Comfort Premier? 04 Feb 2015 13:48 #1

As the topic says, I spent a couple of days on the phone with Brooklyn Bedding, asking a lot of questions, and going over options. Their pre-sale customer service was excellent, and I relied on the recommendations for a split comfort king, based on the sleep patterns and size of my wife and me. Now, the foam is being manufactured, and will soon be on its way to me, and I will report my post-sale experience upon receipt. If I had to fault them for one thing, it would be their choice of shipping companies (I work for the brown guys)! B)

So, now that the bed is coming, I have started to look at mattress protectors. I reviewed all of the posts from Phoenix (I think I have #89 remembered by heart; no need to link it again, unless you really want to... ;) ).

After reviewing the bidding on the potential tradeoffs, I decided that I wanted more breathability and temperature regulation, at the cost of water-proofy-ness, and was unwilling to deal with noise/plastic liners. So, I gravitated to the wool/cotton options. But, I am a little concerned about the impact on the feel of the mattress with the wool options, given that the makeup and feel of the mattress represents a fairly sizable investment, in terms of cost and ability to tweak comfort level.

In terms of price, the Glideaway/Sleep Harmony Natural Wool Comfort Premier seems to be the winner, for around $130 in the king size, which is less than half of the St. Dormeir or any of the king-sized cotton protector options I found on this site. However, even though Phoenix linked to this option in 'classic protector post #89,' I could not find any reviews of the product or descriptions of its feel (aside from the one review on Wayfair).

Anyone own this protector, and if so, would you be willing to share your experience, in terms of feel, durability, quality, water-proofy-ness, and heat retention?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi demaximis,

The Glideaway/Sleep Harmony wool protector has a membrane as well as the wool so it would be fairly "waterproof".

I don't have any personal experience with it though so hopefully one of the members that owns it will see your post and share their comments about it.

Hmm. I really don't feel like I need the waterproofing. I just want a protector that will retain the feel elements of the mattress, but also protect it from my gross body oils and dead skin, while not making it the mattress retain any additional heat.

Hopefully, someone has some experience with the Sleep Harmony. If not, any other suggestions in this price range (<$150)?
