Blue Bed Sleep mattress 03 Apr 2017 11:03 #1

Anyone know anything about the Blue Bed Sleep Mattress Company? They look like they have some good options for me, but I am not sure. they seem to be fairly new.

Hi killowatt59,

Anyone know anything about the Blue Bed Sleep Mattress Company? They look like they have some good options for me, but I am not sure. they seem to be fairly new.

Blue Bed hasn’t been discussed here before on the forum, so thanks for bringing them up.

The only way you’d be able to know if the items Blue Bed offers are "good options” would be to know the actual componentry contained within their mattresses. Unfortunately, their web site doesn’t contain any meaningful information about their products, so until you find out the information listed here (so you can compare the quality of the materials and components to the durability guidelines here to make sure there are no lower quality materials or weak links in their mattresses) I would advise caution and not consider them for a purchase.

The Blue Bed Sleep trademark is owned by Soft-Tex International, Inc. Soft-Tex imports quite a bit of material for their pillows and mattresses from China, but they’re not clear on their web site where all of their componentry is sourced for their mattresses, only that they are "designed and manufactured in the United States". They offer four mattresses, all using a polyfoam base and memory foam, with one model containing a microcoil unit and 1.5” of latex.

If you’re able to find out the specifications of any of the mattresses you’re considering, please post that information back in this thread and I’ll be happy to comment upon those specifications.

I'm a bit biased since I do the marketing for Blue Bed, but since my company is contracted and we don't work for Blue Bed, I can speak from a personal basis on what I learned doing research for the product.

Unlike many of the bed-in-a-box companies in the market, who are really just marketing companies sourcing all the manufacturing out, the company who started Blue Bed has been manufacturing mattresses and pillows for over 30 years and are truly experts in sleep.

Each mattress was designed to fit a specific sleep type and budget, as opposed to the 'one size fits all' concept that most brands are trying to convince the consumer is what they need. It's impossible for a mattress to be soft, firm, springy, plush, etc... all at the same time. Go tell a runner to wear their work shoes next time they go out for a jog or a steak eater the only choice they have is hamburger :) A mattress is no different as each is built with different elements, to provide a variety of comfort levels.

They also incorporate latex into their 14" mattress, which is a premium product that helps keep the sleeper cooler and adds more resiliency, as opposed to the typical sinking feeling you get with memory foam.

They do offer one of the best money back guarantees in the industry, so try it out and if you don't like it, just send it back... no questions asked. They have a chat line too, so you can also ask questions if you're not sure which mattress is the best for you.

I hope this helps out. Blue Bed is truly built on options, with the consumer in mind, so you can rest easy (no pun intended) if you purchase any products from them.

Good Luck!

Hi highpointers,

Welcome to the Mattress Forum! :)

I'm a bit biased since I do the marketing for Blue Bed, but since my company is contracted and we don't work for Blue Bed, I can speak from a personal basis on what I learned doing research for the product.

While you may not be a “direct” employee of Blue Bed Sleep, you still do contracted work for them, so I do appreciate you making that disclosure appropriately as part of the rules of the forum . People with affiliations to mattress companies and brands are welcome to post educational information here on the forum that isn't promotional. Hopefully you won’t mind answering a few questions that will help members on the forum make an educated decision concerning your products.

Unlike many of the bed-in-a-box companies in the market, who are really just marketing companies sourcing all the manufacturing out, the company who started Blue Bed has been manufacturing mattresses and pillows for over 30 years and are truly experts in sleep.

I believe Blue Bed Sleep is owned by Soft-Tex (at least the trade mark is). Where are the mattresses assembled? Is it in Waterford, NY? Where does the foam come from that is used in these mattresses? Is it from China as in many of the Soft-Tex pillows?

Each mattress was designed to fit a specific sleep type and budget, as opposed to the 'one size fits all' concept that most brands are trying to convince the consumer is what they need. It's impossible for a mattress to be soft, firm, springy, plush, etc... all at the same time. Go tell a runner to wear their work shoes next time they go out for a jog or a steak eater the only choice they have is hamburger A mattress is no different as each is built with different elements, to provide a variety of comfort levels.

While this is wonderful “marketing-speak” (many simplified choice brands offer different comfort options), it doesn’t share any meaningful information about the componentry within the mattresses themselves.

Specifically, can you share:
The density of the polyfoam base used in each mattress?
The density of the different memory foams used in each mattress?
The type and blend of latex used in the Blue Prestige?

They do offer one of the best money back guarantees in the industry, so try it out and if you don't like it, just send it back... no questions asked. They have a chat line too, so you can also ask questions if you're not sure which mattress is the best for you.

Their comfort exchange plan (110 days) is on par with most of the simplified choice mattresses in the industry, which most consumers expect with an online order product that can’t be sampled prior to purchase. I normally recommend at least a 30 day trial period (most people know within that time frame if a mattress is a “fit” for them), and much beyond that is nice to have, but it can become more of a marketing issue than a true benefit.

I hope this helps out. Blue Bed is truly built on options, with the consumer in mind, so you can rest easy (no pun intended) if you purchase any products from them.

While I do appreciate you taking the time to post here, unfortunately you haven’t provided any meaningful information that would help site members here make an educated choice about the Blue Bed Sleep products, so if you could answer the questions I posed earlier and post back here in this thread it would be greatly appreciated!
