I live in Vancouver Canada, looking for a latex bed, around/under CAD $2000 range (we get .80 to the US $). Have been searching for weeks and just found this website. Great resource. Hopefully this will help.

Hi Karengriff.

Welcome to our Mattress Forum! :)

I am glad you find our site helpful.

Just for clarity, I don’t make recommendations for stores unless they are a vetted member here of the site. We have decided to discontinue the provision of listings of potential retailers in various geographic regions (unless they are already approved site members), because of the difficulty in maintaining such lists in a retail landscape that is constantly changing, and most importantly the confusion it was creating with the consumer-members who incorrectly assumed that these businesses had indeed gone through the strict qualification process and were approved as members of The Mattress Underground.

Based on your criteria, here is a listing of Canadian and US manufacturers/retailers who are Trusted Members of our site that carry Latex or all Latex mattresses and ship across Canada that you may wish to consider. They are very seasoned in providing good guidance over the phone and fitting their customers with a suitable product in terms of comfort/support needs. Many of their latex mattress options would fit well within your budget range even at the current CE of .8
CBH Wood Furniture Canadian Manufacturer with a European tri slat system bed design with natural latex which is great for proper alignment
Dormio Canadian Manufacturer specializing in organic/natural latex mattresses with options that fit all budget ranges.
Memory Foam Comfort Canadian online retailer with a very good selection of latex mattresses and hybrids that would fit your budget range. They used to have their HC in Delta BC but I am not sure if this is still the case.
Sleep Boutique Canadian Manufacturer with a large array of mattress choices latex/ pocket coil, hybrid, springs. They are based in Calgary, Alberta but you can place an order over the phone.
Bedmasters US based manufacturer (free shipping to Canada).
Arizona Premium Mattress US based manufacturer / ( extra shipping charges for Canada).
FloBeds Is a US-based manufacturer that ships worldwide with options that would fit your budget range
Flexus Comfort US based manufacturer (free shipping to Canada)
Luma Sleep US based retailer with very good options well within your budget range (ships to Canada at an extra $50).
Luxi Sleep US based retailer with customer paid shipping to Canada
My Green Mattress US based manufacturer, ships to Canada.
Nest Bedding US-based manufacturer (free shipping to Canada).
Sleep EZ US based manufacturer, may charge extra for Canada shipping
Sleep On Latex US based manufacturer, ships to Canada).

I don't keep a record of all retailers and manufacturers as this would be a bigger job than anyone could keep up with in a constantly changing market), but If you wish to find some showrooms that you can visit locally, you can always perform a forum search and you can type in the key term any city or area you would be closer to such as Vancouver, Canada (or other towns) or any other area and see what other businesses have been discussed in that region which may be helpful to you. I would make sure that any retailer or manufacturer that you wish to visit is completely transparent (see this article ) and also confirm that any mattress that you are considering meets the quality/value guidelines here . If you have any questions about specifications or certain products, feel free to post back on the forum and I’ll do my best to provide answers.

I'm not sure what you've read since you found the site but just in case you haven't read it yet ... the first place to start your research is the mattress shopping tutorial here which includes all the basic information, steps, and guidelines that can help you make the best possible choice ... and perhaps more importantly know how and why to avoid the worst ones.
Two of the most important links in the tutorial that I would especially make sure you've read are post #2 here which has more about the different ways to choose a suitable mattress (either locally or online) that is the best "match" for you in terms of "comfort", firmness, and PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and your own Personal preferences) that can help you assess and minimize the risks of making a choice that doesn't turn out as well as you hoped for and post #13 here which has more about the most important parts of the "value" of a mattress purchase which can help you make more meaningful quality/value comparisons between mattresses in terms of suitability (how well you will sleep), durability (how long you will sleep well), and the overall value of a mattress compared to your other finalists based on all the parts of your personal value equation that are most important to you (including the price of course and the options you have available after a purchase if your choice doesn't turn out as well as you hoped for).

Good luck! ….and once you've had the chance to narrow things down a little further, feel free to post back with any specific questions and I or any of our Expert Members we'll be happy to assist you.

Canada Vancouver, Latex mattress options under $2000 30 Jul 2019 16:14 #3

Hello Phoenix & TMU community,

I've gone down the rabbit hole with mattress research... so thankful I found this place as a resource!
I'm in the Greater Vancouver, BC area (Langley) and my husband and I need to update our mattress. Because he has chronic acid reflux and needs to sleep with bed risers tilting the head of the bed up all night (and because I find it uncomfortable to sleep on an incline), we are looking for 2 Twin XLs side-by-side. The benefit of this set up is that we can pass them on to kiddos in 10 years... and then upgrade! Our goal is latex+wool, no coils.

I'm hoping some of you can pipe in here with our findings and help us narrow down a decision.

Balancer - Das Original
We tried this out at InBed Organics. Jem was very helpful. The bed was a little firmer than we are used to, but the longer we stayed in the store, lying on all the different latex mattresses... it really started to grow on me. I'm leaning towards this system because my German half has a weakness for clever design, and I don't have to think about buying a bedframe. "One purchase and done."
My only hesitation is that, transitioning from a lifetime of coil and memory foam plushness, this is too firm a jump.
~$3,500 total, tax & shipping included!

8" Eco-Deluxe by InBed Organics
InBed Organics' home line, the Eco Deluxe 6" med core + 2" soft topper felt quite nice. Though Jem warned us that the 2" topper had just arrived today, all high and plush with fresh wool and that it would feel different in a matter of weeks... having that thick wedge of latex almost felt more supportive than the Das Original. In other words, the 6+2 felt like Grandma, and the Das Original's 4+slats+4 system felt like your strict English prof that you revere. But maybe after a while, the strict prof might feel like a surrogate Grandma...?
Jem offered us $3,500 for 2 Twin XL 8" Eco Deluxe mattresses, not incl. tax & shipping. We would also have to buy bed frames, so this is the more expensive option.

Memory Foam Comfort
Chatting with Mario on the phone, he explained that their mattresses are actually manufactured by Nature's Embrace, but in order to not enter into competition, MFC sells exclusively online and has no showroom. He told me he could make me any mattress I wanted, so encouraged me to go try out some beds and just let him know whatever I wanted. Makes sense, I guess. I liked that his website had the ILDs listed.
From their website, the Maoli 8" matches the Eco Deluxe in specs.
$2,318 for 2 Twin XL 8" Maoli with TMU discount, + tax & shipping... and bedframes.

North Shore Linens
Among many other amazingly priced items on their website (I really want to visit their store), they've got the Arpico Supreme, 6" medium with 3" soft topper encased in organic cotton.
$2,260 for 2 Twin XL 9" Arpico Supreme, + tax & shipping... and bedframes.
Cheaper than MFC AND 1" squishier!

I've become paralyzed with too many options.
I'm sure there are other local companies who could match this 6"+2" option, some with wool or without. Maybe the reason I'm posting here, is I'm hoping other fans of the Das Original will sing its praises loud enough to make up my mind. Or, chime in with thoughts of these retailers above. Or, recommend yet another?

Thanks in advance!

HI youngladylove,

It was good talking with you over the phone.

$2,318 for 2 Twin XL 8" Maoli with TMU discount, + tax & shipping... and bedframes.

It's important to note that our prices include taxes and shipping, so the price you see on our website, is the final price you'll pay. Plus, we give you 2 FREE shredded latex pillows.

Good luck in your search

I have the exact same situation!!
(except that InBed Organics is waaaay out of my price range - if you're looking at that kind of thing Dormio's an option too)

For what it's worth (and you may have already bought a mattress) I emailed North Shore Linens to ask about their ILDs for their softness ratings and Matt sent me this:

The ILD's are as follows:
Super Soft 14-18
Soft 25-30
Medium 35-40
Firm 44-50

which are different from MFC's soft/medium/firm 20/30/40 ILDs.

Did buy a bed and if so how is it?

I've been haunting Memory Foam Comfort's website for a while and love their clear ILD, layer, and price specs! It makes me want to DIY but I suspect I'd end up getting it wrong a lot and replacing layers and the costs would add up

Thanks for the kind words about trusted member Memory Foam Comfort's website ; as Phoenix mentioned earlier, they have a very good selection of latex mattresses and hybrids in this topic's general price range. Did you purchase a mattress from MFC or are you still researching?

Thanks,
Sensei

We couldn't find a king all-latex bed which has enough layers to be comfy AND <2000. But looks like we're staying under $3000 for frame + mattress.

Think it'll be (from north shore linens) :

6" 35-40 ILD - 2 individually covered twin XL's
2" 25-30 ILD - king
2" 14-18 ILD - king

We're thinking north shore linens mainly because it worked out cheaper, but also if anything does go wrong and we need to use the warranty a local place seems easier.

I do have a question about layers and cases though sensei, if you wouldn't mind!
So at the moment we're thinking a separate layer system: each of the 6" twin XL's in their own cover, then either each of the king 2" layers in their own covers or both in one cover.
The reasoning behind that was so it's be easier to rotate and flip each component - if they're all in one case it'll be a pain and therefore less likely to actually happen!
But I don't know if that's better or worse for heat dissipation? My partner is an absolute furnace so we're trying to get a setup with that in mind (breathable covers, wool topper, linen sheets, well ventilated slat base)

Btw for anyone looking for latex in the Vancouver area I do thoroughly recommend checking out mattresses there - owners are lovely, can talk you through options and help you try out different layers (and also leave you alone to try it out for ages). They don't have all possible layers in all possible thicknesses on hand but they have enough for you to experiment (and I expect would be willing to work with you to try out a specific combo on a later date).

Trying them out was super useful in figuring out what layers we actually wanted and this was the only place in Vancouver we found which had separate layers we could mess around with.

Since it has not been mentioned in this thread, there is also Cloud Nine Furniture ( cloudninefurniture.ca/ ) that offer latex beds in the Vancouver area. They have a mobile showroom.

Hi insomniacsrus,

Another store in Vancouver where you can go and try different layers of organic dunlop latex (in all thicknesses and ILD's), as well as complete latex mattresses is Majestic Sit and Sleep They are owned by Nature's Embrace Organic Latex Mattresses and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They also sell individual covers for the latex layers as well as mattress covers if you want to do it yourself (DIY).

Hope this gives you more options in the Vancouver area.

all the best

Thanks CBHWoodFurniture for mentioning Cloud Nine to Forum members:) . They are on track of becoming a trusted member of TMU once all criteria is met. Recently, Phoenix visited their mobile showroom at Ambleside market I North Vancouver and saw great potential in this form of mobile display, they are servicing consumers with only top quality products.

Cheers,
