Nest Natural Latex Hybrid vs. Arizona Ultimate Latex Hybrid 28 Aug 2020 19:34 #1

Hello TMU,

First I would like to say finding this forum early on in my mattress search has truly been a blessing and I would like to say thank you to everyone that contributes their time to make it possible.

A little about myself; I am 5' 11" 220lbs, combination sleeper between stomach and side, and sleep hot, additionally I like to watch tv from my bed before going to bed and I'll lay on my back.

I've narrowed down my search down to two mattresses; Nest Bedding Latex Hybrid and Arizona Premium Mattress Ultimate Hybrid Latex.

The Nest Bedding Latex Hybrid Queen Medium:

.1" Organic Stretch Knit Cotton and Joma Wool
1.5" 1.5lb Eco Flex Quilting Foam
3" Oeko-tex Cert. Dunlop Latex 27ILD
1" 1.5LB Eco-Friendly Comfort Foam
6" Caliber Edge Coil Support Pocketed Coils (from researching this forum it has 660 coil count)
1" 1.5lb Support Foam

From researching TMU Nest Bedding Latex Hybrid had a recent design change, they used a different talalay latex layer with 8" coils and prior they used 1.8LB foam in the comfort layer prior and now they use 1.5LB, this could potentially be a weak link but mentioned in another thread that this design change was to improve comfort and should not be a weak link.

The Arizona Premium Mattress Ultimate Hybrid Latex Queen Medium:

Bamboo mattress cover
3" Natural Talalay or Natural Dunlop topper 25-29 ILD
1130 individually wrapped coils QE Combi-Zone

I was able to visit a local Nest Bedding showroom and tried the Alexander Signature Hybrid in medium and firm, I did like the firm of this mattress but it did seem to run warm and the medium was too soft. I also tried the Natural Latex Hybrid in medium and firm, the firm version I felt was a little too firm and thought the medium felt nicer and felt much cooler compared to the Alexander Signature Hybrid.

I was wondering how the Latex Hybrid between Nest Bedding and Airizona Premium Mattress compare to each other.

Nest Natural Latex Hybrid vs. Arizona Ultimate Latex Hybrid 31 Aug 2020 03:04 #3

Hi Sensei,

I currently have a Simmons innerspring mattress in extra firm that was a hand-me-down from my parents and I've been sleeping on it for 5 years now. The mattress is too firm for me when I sleep on my side but is comfortable sleeping on my stomach. Since I'm a combination sleeper I think a medium firmness would suit me better. I do like the feel of a innerspring mattress and prefer sleeping "on a mattress" rather than "in a mattress."

The Nest Natural Latex Hybrid feels similar to my current innerspring, the medium firmness had a ever so slight feel of "sleeping in a mattress" while at the same time had a feel of "sleeping on a mattress," I enjoyed the combination of both feels and the firm firmness felt like "sleeping on a mattress."

I'm having a hard time deciding which firmness is right for me, considering I'm on the heavy side and being a combination sleeper. I called Nest Bedding customer service prior to my visit and they suggested that the medium would suit me best with my height/weight and sleep style and I did enjoy the medium most when I tried the mattress at the show room. I also occasionally have mid-back pain im not sure if its related to my mattress.

Thanks,
Neox

Hey Neox,

Thanks for your reply :) .

I do like the feel of a innerspring mattress and prefer sleeping "on a mattress" rather than "in a mattress."

Sleeping positions, as well as body weight and shape have a big effect on the type, softness, and thickness of the comfort layers you choose and on the type of support materials and mattress construction that works best for you. In general, sleep positions with bigger "gaps"(side sleeping) need thicker or softer comfort layers with appropriate support layers and materials. For more thoughts on the role sleeping positions play in finding the right mattress, Phoenix's article "Your Sleeping Style, Preferences and Statistics" is a good read.

The Nest Natural Latex Hybrid feels similar to my current innerspring, the medium firmness had a ever so slight feel of "sleeping in a mattress" while at the same time had a feel of "sleeping on a mattress," I enjoyed the combination of both feels and the firm firmness felt like "sleeping on a mattress."…I'm having a hard time deciding which firmness is right for me, considering I'm on the heavy side and being a combination sleeper. I also occasionally have mid-back pain im not sure if its related to my mattress.

If you do choose to go with Nest's Natural Latex Hybrid/ Medium firm, you would have their 100-night sleep trial option if needed to make a comfort exchange for adjusting the mattress feel to either more plush or more firm, but in your case, their suggested medium firmness should work. Looking forward to hearing more later when you decide, and good luck Neox.

Thanks,
Sensei

Hi Sensei,

I received my mattress yesterday and I’m having some mixed feelings.

I think the medium firmness might be too soft or worse that the mattress might be defective?

In the center of the mattress I feel like I’m sinking in and isn’t providing enough support to my body, especially in my hip area and it feels like my spine is out of alignment and waking up with back pain. The edges of the mattress provide proper support and spinal alignment.

By contrast the medium firmness latex hybrid I tried at the showroom did not have this sinking feeling in the center of the mattress and had uniform support edge to edge.

Do you think the mattress is too soft for me or that it might be defective?

Thank you,
Neox

I spoke with Nest Bedding customer service and they recommended to give it a couple weeks to fully decompress and that it should become firmer once fully decompressed. And that I can help the process by walking on top of the mattress daily.

How are you finding it after a few nights? I'm currently choosing between 3inches medium or firm latex hybrid myself. I've been told that since I'm around 200lbs, I'll need to pick the firm option.

I think that it’s too soft and been waking up with mid back pain. I will be contacting Nest again to switch the comfort layer to firm.
