Choosing a latex mattress 30 Jan 2021 12:11 #1

We have been sleeping on a queen latex mattress, I think it might be a hybrid, for 10 plus years. We are moving and I want to jump up to a king sized bed. Looking around it seems like the 8" mattress from "Sleep on Latex" is highly regarded. I am concerned about the firmness, I read some amazon reviews and all the 1 stars say the mattress is not firm enough. I am OK with a firm mattress, but I want to make sure I don't sleep on a sheet of plywood either. My wife picked out a bed from Costco.com that has slats so I think that will be fine. We are kind of cutting the budget on the actual bed since we ordered quite a few Hancock and Moore leather pieces for the living room and TV room. I am open to suggestions on any latex and latex hybrid mattresses, we do not like regular memory foam so that is not an option.

Hey kcinnick,

Welcome to the Mattress Underground :) ! Thanks for your question.

Congrats on your new mattress shopping journey and on your upgrade to a king size mattress :) ! Thanks for considering a possible mattress purchase from TMU trusted member Sleep On Latex , they have extensive experience in the Dunlop latex space and provide excellent component design and customer support post-sale. If you have questions about their available firmnesses, you may call one of their team members directly and discuss your personal preferences : 312-487-2865. Dunlop latex is the more dense, firmer of the latex processes, and their Pure Green Natural Latex Mattress/ Firm is designed with back and stomach sleepers who prefer a firm mattress feel. Don't put too much stock in reviews regarding a mattress's "feel", as that is particular to the individual and there are too many other more "personal" variables to consider in understanding how that is evaluated. While other people's comments about the knowledge and service of a particular business can certainly be very helpful, I would be cautious about using anyone else's suggestions, experiences or reviews on a specific mattress (either positive or negative) or review sites in general as a reliable source of information or guidance about how you will feel on the same mattress or how suitable or how durable a mattress may be for you. In many if not most cases, they can be more misleading than helpful because a mattress that would be a perfect choice for one person or even a larger group of people in terms of comfort, firmness, and PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and your Personal preferences) may be completely unsuitable for someone else to sleep on (even if they are in a similar weight range). In other words ... reviews or other people's experiences in general won't tell you much if anything about the suitability, quality, durability, or "value" of a mattress for any particular person

You will want to review your Costco slatted foundation's specs to ensure that it meets Sleep On Latex's recommendation of a 3" or less slat spacing. Regarding other suggestions of latex/ latex hybrid mattresses, you would find many options from other trusted members as well as Sleep On Latex using the TMU Latex/ All Latex directory . And as you have asked one forum question (this one counts ;) ), you may receive a code TMU discount from participating manufacturers/ retailers as a small "Thank You" for supporting the program. Good luck with your research and let us know how things go :) .

Thanks,
Sensei
