Hey Mstrlucky74,
Welcome back to the Mattress Underground

! Good to see you again and thanks for your question.
Hello all. So we are not able to get a king mattress up our stairs up our stairs due to space constraints.
Could you describe the space constraints that your stairwell has? You don't mention what type king mattress that you're interested in, but there are hinged king mattresses available (in fact, many of them are hinged), allowing the mattress to be folded in half for the purpose of moving.
I know some mattresses come in a box. I was wondering if there were only a handful of companies that offer this someone could list them or if there are too many to list don't worry about it. Thanks.
The mattress you refer to is commonly called a "Bed-in-a-Box" mattress or simply "BIB". These mattresses are manufactured using materials and constructions that are suitable for compression with roll pack machines and generally ship in 1 or more boxes, depending on how many separate pieces are involved (i.e., support base, mattress pillow top, bundled pillows + linens, etc.). With the innovations the industry has seen following the explosive popularity of Casper's simple "one size fits most" comfort/ support needs, many manufacturers have followed suit and offer at least one BIB model in their product offering. When working with a reputable manufacturer or showroom, such as one of

, these mattresses combine excellent quality and value, and can be a sound alternative to a traditional innerspring mattress. It's compact, compressed state makes it ideal for stairwell space constraints as you mention. Some manufacturers also offer white glove delivery service where for a separate fee, someone(s) would arrive at your address after mattress delivery, move the boxes to the designated room, set up the mattress and remove/dispose of the packing materials for you. There are +150 online mattress manufacturers that specialize in Bed-in-a-Box mattresses, far too many to list here, and TMU doesn't recommend any who haven't passed the

Maybe this would narrow it down a little . I'm about 220 and my wife 180. We both sleep on our sides.. would like something not so firm.
Thanks for including a few of your
personal stats
, that helps with understanding some of your comfort and support needs. To get a better picture, could you tell me about your current mattress: what brand and type is it? How old is your mattress? What qualities do you like about it and what ones would you prefer to avoid in a future mattress purchase? You mention interest in a king size; have you a budget in mind?
