HEADS-UP! WINKBED CHANGED ITS DESIGN IN JANUARY 2021! 13 Mar 2021 18:31 #1

See statement below from info@winkbeds.com

“Yes, we changed the design of the WinkBeds in January; and the photo looks correct.

The current model has SupportCell foam in place of the microcoils. We feel that moving the design of our bed forward that the move to the new technology of SupportCell foam makes the bed more durable and supportive.”

Hey Spoonman01,

Thanks for your update :) .

Appreciate the share of your WinkBeds' discovery. For consumers who may be researching this model, did you find any spec details on the SupportCell foam that is replacing the microcoils? There's no mention of "SupportCell foam" on the site, only one of the euro-pillow top including gel infused foam. Where did the pic come from? Let us know if you find anything and thanks!

Here is the follow-up email from WINKBEDS support:

"Yes, a lot of the reviews are starting to update, but as with a lot of products out there, some reviews just stay and are never updated- depending on the reviewer.

SupportCell is a a non-visco foam. Similar to the AirCell foam that we use in the GravityLux in that it uses similar "air capsule" technology to provide ventilation and cool sleeping. The air capsules also limit motion transfer (more so than micro coils). It's different from the AirCell in that it has a different feel, because each are unique proprietary poly-foam blends.

Think of foam manufacturing as similar to baking. When we say "polyfoam blend" we're essentially talking about the recipe used to make the foam. Both the AirCell and the SupportCell are utilizing air capsule technology, so we can say they are both similar to cakes. Not sure if you're a big cake fan, but I know I am. The best cakes have the right balance of density and airy-bubbles, very similar to the foams we're using. Some types of cakes call for more density (birthday cake) while other cakes call for more air-bubbles (angel food). While both cakes are made using the same basic ingredients (flower, sugar, water, eggs, baking powder), the quantities of each ingredient vary from recipe to recipe, as well as the cooking time, in order to achieve the desired consistency. The foam blends we're using follow a similar principle. The difference in feel and structure between the foams is determined by the ratios or recipe of the base materials used, as well as how it's heated or baked in order to produce the desired feel. So- SupportCell is a bit more like birthday, while the AirCell is more like angel food cake.
Please let me know if you have any questions (:"

I created the pic from a screen grab of the Sleep Foundation website review: ( www.sleepfoundation.org/mattress-reviews/winkbed-mattress-review ).
Here's the YouTube URL from the point where they describe the materials inside the mattress: ( youtu.be/w4uQkkGHVnw?t=139 youtu.be/w4uQkkGHVnw?t=139 )

Doesn't matter when the top layer gets indented and loses its firmness almost immediately. I bought one this January and had to return it. Just about the perfect mattress though, for about five weeks :/

You mean the gel-infused polyfoam on the very top or the air-cell foam directly underneath???
