Buying mattress for adjustable bed 10 Jun 2021 08:08 #1

Hi again,
We have decided to replace our 10-year old latex mattress which we think is causing me backaches in the morning.
We have done some shopping locally but haven’t seen anything that seems right,

Our present mattress is about 8” thick and the bed is just the right neight for me to sit on to get dressed and put on my shoes. All the mattresses we’ve seen are much thicker, most 10” or more, so that’s a problem.

Another issue is how well a mattress will stand up to being bent, in two places, every day....for the time I take my afternoon rest, about two hours. The mattress salesmen tell us that all of their mattresses are suitable for use with adjustable beds, but I’m skeptical. Any opinions on that?

So we are thinking that perhaps we should order another latex mattress online. I really hate to buy a mattress without first trying it out, but I don’t see any other option.

So my post here now is to get some recommendations as to where to buy it. I see Amazon has some, many with high numbers of positive reviews (but can you trust them?). Where else?

Comments most appreciated.

Hi HappyHunter,

We have two Trusted Members who sell 8" mattresses (off the top of my head). Sleep On Latex has an 8" all latex system , My Green Mattress, sells an 8" mattress , but it is not latex. You can, however, choose to purchase a latex topper.

Sleep EZ has 7" and 9" offerings that are full latex, and you can configure them or "build your own" on their site.

Latex mattresses are ideal for adjustable beds because of their inherent flexibility. But, a quality and trustworthy retailer will be able to tell you if they believe their product is compatible.

I hope this helps!
