Anyone on or off the forum still sleeping on a Sealy Reflection Latex mattress? 17 Jun 2021 14:54 #1

It's been 5 years since I posted to this forum. In 2004 we purchased a Sealy Reflection Newport Beach Latex mattress. I think, I maybe wrong, that this was Sealy's first attempt at their modern version of a latex type mattress. The mattress is not all latex. It is ~10.5” high. The comfort layer is 2” of stitched in pu foam (more in the upper models) and 1” of 19 ILD Talalay latex. The core is 7.5” of 34 ILD Dunlop latex surrounded by a 4” wide HD pu foam racetrack edge. Their have been numerous complaints about the Reflection line, mainly sagging. This was most likely caused by the pu layer. It was thicker as you moved up the line in softness. After 17 years we were going to replace the mattress but it is still in great shape, no sagging, supportive, and my wife still likes it. Back in the 50's and 60's latex mattresses that lasted >15 years were quite common. The fact that we have always used a Linenspa waterproof mattress protector has helped. Just curious if anyone out there is still sleeping on one of the Reflections.

Tried attaching jpg files. Get this message: Image MIME type (%s) is not allowed (%s). ??? Only if converted to pdf files will it accept them?? And yes, reduced jpg file sizes down to 650 x 487, 0.32MB.

Hey Bob,

Wonderful news that your Sealy Reflection Latex mattress is still going strong after 17 years of faithful years of service :) ! Thanks for including the pics for reference. Indeed, it is beautiful in appearance, thanks to your diligent care and use of a waterproof mattress protector over the life of your mattress. Upon observation, no one would guess that these weren't pics of a new model! I'll be following your post to see what comments your receive regarding other's experience with their Reflection latex mattress and thanks again for your helpful product review. Good luck with your new mattress shopping journey. BTW, any ideas of what your Sealy's replacement will be?

For now we are keeping the Sealy. In 2013 we purchased a Pure Latex Bliss Nature latex mattress with matching foundation for our guest room. I rate it about a medium firm. It has no polyurethane foam in it. Except for getting the foundation replaced under warranty it has also held up extremely well. I'm a firm believer in try before you buy. We tried out several different Sealy Reflection mattresses in a store showroom before we decided on the Newport Beach model. We also did the same with the PLB mattress. There is a local mattress chain in our area called The Bed Store that carried the PLB mattresses. They are now called the Pure Talalay Bliss and made by the same company, now called Talalay Global, who also manufactures Talalay latex foam. puretalalaybliss.com/ The Bed Store carries the new PTB mattresses. The downside is that they are expensive.

If I went with a bed in box mattress my first choice would be the Avocado Green mattress. It's a hybrid mattress, gets great reviews, rated #1 innerspring by CR, and no pu foam. www.avocadogreenmattress.com/collections/mattresses/products/green-natural-organic-mattress
