Opinions on saatya luxury firm 27 Jul 2021 10:04 #1

Hi folks,

Listing for first time in years.
We’ll, after we had a mattress made by the mattress makers in brockton( very good people, btw), my wife felt that mattress was too firm. So, it ended up in a spare bedroom.
Staff was great.,They made a softer alternate. . Let us choose. I found it too soft, As I noted, we took home the firm one.
It Is different layers of memory foam.
At time of that purchase, she was aldo developing a hip problem and eventually had hip replacement. She doesn’t sleep well in general and will occasionally sleep or stay up late night. She now seems ok with that firm one.
Anyway, after I started developing renewed lower back pain, we decided to take a shot at and purchased a saatya luxury firm. It’s one of a number of internet makers. This happens to be a hybrid. Coils, memory foam and a topper. 11.5 version.
Called their luxury firm line.

My back problem has unfortunately returned( past herniated discs). I don’t believe that it’s the mattress, as I stupidly helped one of my kids move a futon snd frame up 2 lengthy sets of apartment stairs. Had been pain free for years and simply wasn’t thinking.

As mattress is a hybrid, it was delivered freight. They’ll gladly take it back for just the 99 bucks to pick it up. Not rushing into a quick decision, but would love some thoughts. I haven’t yet gone back to sleep on the firm memory foam one in spare bedroom. Just inertia.

Anyway, I’m primarily a stomach and side sleeper. My wife does like this saatya.
Any thoughts , experiences?
I’m about 5.10, 150 lbs. she’s shorter and a bit heavierTganks in advance.

Hi Steven,

www.saatva.com/mattresses
Did you mean Saatva mattres? listed above?

I have never personally tested their mattresses but they get great reviews and I read somewhere they have 19 factories in the U.S. so they must be popular too! If your mattress is Saatva they also make a plush soft version, so maybe you can exchange your luxury firm for that model instead.

I'm sorry your back problems returned and I hope one of the mods here can guide you further.

Serenity,
Very nice of you’ve vrespind. I think that, as I’ve clearly my lower back and hip area, I won make a hasty decision. Mattress does feel substantial and they allow for six months to return it. So, I’m in temporarily down for the count. Am aware of their other lines, so we’ll see. The Szela luxury firm line its s very popular. Some friends have it and like it.
Just figured that I toss out a post and see who might have the interest in responding.
So, thank you.
Mattress feels substantia. Next f their factories using NJ,, not far from Boston, where I live.
Not concerned about the time frame or the money. They give you 6 months to try it out.
Just looking fir any additional opinions on things to consider with lower back problems.
But thank you!!

Hey Stevenk,

Thanks for the update on your Brockton mattress makers' experience and good to know that they worked with you on getting your comfort preferences right. I am sorry to learn of your wife's hip problem but happy to hear that she is resting better now following her hip replacement procedure.

Oh no! Sorry to hear that your herniated discs were aggravated by the futon/ frame move, that is a shame! You'll need to take things easy for a bit while your back recovers from the strain of the move up those two lengthy flights of stairs, that sounds like quite a workout. Needless to say, adjusting to a new mattress's comfort and support feel may be a bit of a challenge while recovering from an old back injury during the same time. It is good to recognize as you have that possibly the overexertion of your back is likely the culprit of your discomfort rather than your new mattress.

After reviewing Saatva's site, I'm a bit confused as to which model you have, but if it uses a memory foam comfort layer, it sounds like their Saatva Classic Mattress. If this is the model, the product description includes HD memory foam over 14.5 gauge pocket coils. With the choice of a Luxury Firm firmness, Saatva rates this mattress as a 5-7 firmness feel using a scale of 1- 10 with 10 being the firmest feeling, so despite the "Luxury Firm" description, this seems almost a medium-firm firmness. Firmer mattresses are recommended for stomach and back sleepers for offering more lumbar support, while medium or plush are recommended for side sleepers to provide more "sink" for that curvier profile position, generally speaking. Of course, these descriptions are all subjective, as only you can "feel" what you feel in terms of a mattress's comfort and support feel. The other variables that can contribute to a mattress's firmness are the type of linens/ mattress protector used, as well as the type of foundation. You did a good job researching possible return options before purchase, so that you both have a Plan B should your Saatva not work out…but hopefully, it will ;) . Looking forward to your future product review after your herniated discs recover…and hopefully, that will be soon too.
