Might be purchasing a Latexco 7 zone latex mattress and had some questions? 11 Oct 2021 01:51 #1

So I live in a part of the world where for one reason or another the only latex mattresses available are made by Latexco and then rebranded to whichever store is selling them. I booked a trial experience with the store this week and am trying to be prepared to try them out.

Does anyone have any experience with that brand of latex mattresses? In particular the quality and the longevity of the mattress? I was thinking if the 7 zones had different densities, would some parts sag before other parts?

Generally speaking, is density directly related to quality? Like if I want a mattress that lasts longer, do I need to find one that has higher density? And if so, what is a good weight range for say a 100 x 200cm mattress?

The mattresses available here from Latexco are generally between 1,500 - 2,500 USD, is that a reasonable price for that brand and mattress?

There's a choice of either 18cm or 20cm thick, and I was also wondering what thickness or firmness would be needed for me and my wife? I'm 75k and a side sleeper and my wife is 45kg and is a combination sleeper.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and help! Can't imagine anywhere else I could find the answers to these questions online.

Hey Tonythetigger,

Welcome to TMU :) ! Thanks for joining in and for your question.

So I live in a part of the world where for one reason or another the only latex mattresses available are made by Latexco and then rebranded to whichever store is selling them. I booked a trial experience with the store this week and am trying to be prepared to try them out.

Where are you located, Tony? Glad to hear that you're able to make store visits to test mattresses, it's an important part of your research and mattress shopping journey. Will this be your first latex mattress purchase? What mattress are you currently using and how old is it? What are some of the qualities that you like about it and what are some that you would change?

Does anyone have any experience with that brand of latex mattresses? In particular the quality and the longevity of the mattress? I was thinking if the 7 zones had different densities, would some parts sag before other parts?

Latexco is a 60 year old mattress manufacturer who produces mattress toppers, cores, and pillows for the mattress industry. Do you have a particular model name of a mattress that you need more information on? They would produce to spec a mattress designed for a particular brands' needs, so there is no way to answer you question without knowing which mattress you're considering.

Generally speaking, is density directly related to quality? Like if I want a mattress that lasts longer, do I need to find one that has higher density? And if so, what is a good weight range for say a 100 x 200cm mattress?

In the all-latex mattress world, "Density" refers more to the firmness "feel" of a mattress, rather than a measure of its quality. Overall, most latex mattresses are of a good quality (Chinese-made excluded, as they are not necessarily manufactured to the same quality standards as other countries enforce). So, the density you choose will be based on the amount of firmness or softness that you seek for comfort and support. You may find these Phoenix articles helpful for better understanding latex's unique properties of pressure-relieving comfort , combined with high durability and support factor .

The mattresses available here from Latexco are generally between 1,500 - 2,500 USD, is that a reasonable price for that brand and mattress?

This price range is quite reasonable for an all-latex mattress in a full- king size range. What size are you considering, Tony?

There's a choice of either 18cm or 20cm thick, and I was also wondering what thickness or firmness would be needed for me and my wife? I'm 75k and a side sleeper and my wife is 45kg and is a combination sleeper.

Your BMI is on the average side, while your wife is quite petite. You both will definitely need to test drive the 7-zone mattress that you're considering to be sure that her side will not be too firm for her shoulders and hips when in a side-sleeping position. Does this mattress have a zippered cover so that the layers/ zones are adjustable?

Thank you so much for your thoughts and help! Can't imagine anywhere else I could find the answers to these questions online.

Thank you for your kind words of support :) ! You are most welcome and good luck with your mattress shopping.

Might be purchasing a Latexco 7 zone latex mattress and had some questions? 20 Oct 2021 07:09 #3

Thank you so much for the information and I'm sorry for the late response, I thought I had submitted a reply but I guess it never went through.

A little update, I went ahead and bought a 20cm latex mattress and thinking we'll just add a soft mattress topper if it comes to that. Thank you so much for the helpful info!

Might be purchasing a Latexco 7 zone latex mattress and had some questions? 20 Oct 2021 07:22 #4

Sorry I did have a follow up question:

I'm now in the process of shopping for a bed for the mattress and I was deciding between the Ikea Mandal which has solid pine slats or the Ikea Lonset, which are more flexible and springy. I was curious about the lonset cuz they advertise them as bouncy and springy, which I like. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them vs normal rigid slats and noticed a difference? For reference my mattress thickness is 8'.

Hey Tonythetigger,

Thanks for your update and question.

I'm now in the process of shopping for a bed for the mattress and I was deciding between the Ikea Mandal which has solid pine slats or the Ikea Lonset, which are more flexible and springy.

What size 8" all latex mattress did you purchase and how much does it weigh? It's best to refer to the mattress's product warranty information for foundation requirements, as use of an improper foundation will void the mattress's warranty. Generally speaking, all- latex mattresses can be used with any sturdy slatted foundation whose slats are spaced around 3" apart, as well as any platform bed or adjustable bed base. For Queen and King sizes, center supports with accompanying feet are preferred. The foundation should support the entire surface of the latex mattress combined with user(s)' weight evenly, as well as allow for proper air circulation.

I was curious about the lonset cuz they advertise them as bouncy and springy, which I like. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them vs normal rigid slats and noticed a difference? For reference my mattress thickness is 8'.

The choice of a flexible Euro-slat base vs. rigid slats is strictly that of a personal preference. The feel will be more "giving" and contouring to your body. Rigid slats will feel more unyielding and supportive. The type mattress and foundation you have been using will determine which type foundation may be better suited for your comfort and support preferences. What mattress and foundation were you using previously and how old is it?

Thanks,
