Back and Side Sleeper Build Advise before Purchase. 27 Oct 2021 22:18 #1

Hi,
Queen Build.

BMI 27.4 (5'8" (180lbs))
I'm a back and side sleeper

Talaly+Dunlop Build
6" HD36-HQ Foam - bottom
2" of 28ILD Dunlop Latex - mid
2" of 19ILD Talalay Latex - top
10" zippered mattress cover - cover

Talalay Build
6" HD36-HQ Foam $209.99
3" of 28ILD Talalay Latex $329.00
9" zippered mattress cover $129.00
Total: $667.99

When I showed someone my talalay build, they mentioned how I should instead go for 2 2" layers of latex, but didn't elaborate further.
Let me know,
Thanks!

Hi MOshBalls.

Welcome to our Mattress Forum. :)

Thanks for sharing some of your stats with us, as well as your builds. Both builds look well thought out.

Seeing as you are a combo sleeper, my inclination tells me you may be happier on the Talalay + Dunlop build because of that middle layer. A middle layer or "transition layer" can be especially useful for those who sleep in multiple positions and it can help you to sink in enough to help with pressure relief and also help keep you from sinking down too far and causing back issues.

When I showed someone my talalay build, they mentioned how I should instead go for 2 2" layers of latex

Did they say whether or not they'd suggest different ILDs for those layers? It's possible they were suggesting it to provide for a transition layer. Also, multiple layers allows for easier troubleshooting should you be unhappy with the feel. That way you can swap out one layer for something firmer or softer, depending on your needs.

Is there a reason why you eliminated the 19 ILD Talalay from your all Talalay configuration? Or am I misunderstanding and are you configuring two separate mattresses?
