Diamond Mattress 09 Nov 2021 18:57 #1

Greetings,

Thank you for all of the information you provide on this forum. I found a mattress that felt comfortable to me. It's made by a company called Diamond Mattress. Their website says that they're family owned and have been in business since 1946. They offer a 20 year guarantee, which suggests to me that they have confidence in their mattresses, assuming that they don't have unreasonable requirements with regard to the warranty.

I would appreciate it if you could review the below specs and tell me if you can foresee any durability concerns. I'm fairly certain the latex used is non-blended Talalay.and that the mattress has a HD foam perimeter. Assuming my memory on these points is correct, does this seem like a quality mattress? Also, are there any additional questions you'd recommend I ask before purchasing this bed?

I've been trying to replace a 16-plus year old Beautyrest World Class Exceptionale Ultra Plush Pillow Top. My body and needs have somewhat changed since I last purchased a mattress, but I generally like a plush feel and am seeking great pressure relief with firm but conforming support. I'm hoping I've found "the one" with this mattress.

Thank you!

Hi quest4rest.

Thanks for your kind words and for sharing the mattress specs you found.

I found a mattress that felt comfortable to me.

This is the most important thing of all. The fact that you already find this mattress comfortable and supportive gets a big thumbs up from us! Ultimately, your personal preferences play a huge factor in deciding whether a mattress is a good fit. So while we can evaluate durability, you're (obviously) the best judge in terms of comfort and support.

I didn't see any weak links in the information you provided about this set up. Out of pure curiosity, do you happen to know how many inches of latex it is total above the microcoils?

Latex when taken care of can very easily last between 10, 15, or even 20 years. Especially if, like you said, it is not a blended latex. Even in the softer versions, it is more durable than any other type of foam and will both keep its desirable qualities for longer than other foams and is not nearly as prone to body impressions and premature breakdown.

I hope this helps!

Hi NikkiTMU,

I'm glad to hear that the materials and construction of this mattress suggest it should be durable!

I'm hoping to speak with someone from the company tomorrow and will ask about the thickness of the latex layers. I've attached a graphic showing the breakdown of the mattress. I just noticed that it doesn't indicate what materials are used inside the quilt pack cover. I'll ask about that, too. I looked at the foam density post on this website. I'm an average build and based on my personal BMI, the recommendation was that any polyurethane or other synthetic foams used should be 1.8 lbs. density or more. Hopefully, if there are foams in this quilt pack, they will meet this criteria.

Thank you!
