I have slept most on innerspring beds but think I am interested in a Talalay latex mattress - Adjustable Ultra Plush. I have read a lot on this form and like many, overwhelmed. I know I prefer a soft bed but even after going and trying multiple beds cannot tell you more . 5'7 woman, 160 lbs, 60s. Side sleeper. Would like durable mattress, hopefully last 20 years Live in Dallas as I read there are some things you do not ship. Will be on a L&P adjustable base . I like a tall bed so not sure about a 9" mattress. My grandchildren spend the weekend frequently and there will be a need for mattress protection.
What are your recommendations for:
- Adjustable Ultra Plus or something else
- Pure versus blended
- Core and topper (medium,soft?)
- Should I start with the 9" and then add a second topper if necessary?
- Would you recommend the copper infused over a Talalay topper? In addition to it?
- Anything else I should consider
- Mattress protection

Like many others I appreciate the time and effort required to support this site.
Thank you

Thank you for your interest in our products. First of all I can safely say there is no better mattress made for an adjustable bed than an all latex design. It molds with the curves of the adjustable base and the curves of your body better than any other type of mattress. That being said latex mattress are usually not that tall because they don't need to be. What I would recommend it the Adjustable Ultra Plush with Medium cores and the 3" soft topper upgrade. That setup is supportive and yet soft on top for a side sleeper of your weight class. The mattress will finish at 10" but if you decide later you need more the best thing to do is just add another 3" topper over the mattress. I have it setup that way on my own mattress with an adjustable base and works great.

Natural vs. blended is purely a lifestyle choice, no right or wrong. I sleep on blended myself and my bed is over 17 years old. The copper topper is only effective if you sleep directly on it with only a sheet between you and it. Otherwise you are paying for benefits that will get lost in a mattress protector or mattress pad.

Mattress protectors usually do not breath very well so you will sacrifice some air flow if you choose to use a waterproof protector. I recommend an all cotton mattress pad which still maintains it's breath-ability but can also catch any small spill. Call me direct if you need more info and thank you again for the great questions.
