Narrowing down options from Sleep on Latex, Nest Bedding, Avocado, Essentia 14 Aug 2019 04:10 #1

Hello, I'm currently in the market to replace an 9 year old Simmons Beautyrest that suffers from sagging and is just needing to be replaced. I'm 6'5 220lbs and am a combo side/back sleeper and my wife is 5'4 125lbs and is also a combo side/back sleeper. We really want something that is comfortable for us both, sleeps cooler, reduces motion transfer, and has decent edge support since I sleep towards the edge. A nice to have would be configurable sides since she prefers something firmer than I do. I'm having trouble narrowing it down between the hybrids offered by Avocado and Nest Bedding or the latex mattresses offered by Sleep on Latex, Nest Bedding, and Essentia. Essentia sounds great based on the supposed 'sleeps 7 degrees cooler' attributes, but I've reviewed the posts here and they don't sound all they are advertised to be and are quite a bit more expensive than the other options. We are willing to spend what is necessary to replace the bed but ideally stay under $4k for the mattress and the new foundation. What recommendations would you have based on our situation? Thanks for your help!

Thank you for your questions but I would like to comment on the products that we produce. In 2014 I was approached by Leggett and Platt with a new spring that could be rolled and shipped via UPS or Fedex. It was a pocket coil system like I'd never seen before. I thought that would make a great mattress if I added 3" of latex on top of the coil system. Before I brought it to market I consulted with the Mattress Underground to see if there was any buzz about a hybrid pocket coil and latex type mattress. He told me there was but nobody had anything like that yet. I told him that I was about to offer one and he was delighted with the specs but also the price I was going to sell them for. Shortly after that conversation I introduced the first pocket coil/latex hybrid called the Ultimate Hybrid www.mattresses.net/ulhypoco.html It has been a huge success and has also been copied now by many other manufacturers including those you are comparing to. I just thought you might want to take a look at ours in addition because we can offer a dual firmness with this mattress as we do with all our mattresses. Couples are rarely on the same page when it comes to mattresses which is why over 70% of our couples order dual firmness.

Hi DMVDude, My name is Brooke and I am Nest Bedding's National Sales Manager. Based on your sleeping needs, I can recommend a few model options for you and your wife. Did you know that we have an internal split feel feature in our latex hybrid and all latex mattresses for king and cal king sizes? This means that you and your partner can have each a different feel to you side. I mention this because of the weight different between you and your partner. What might feel like a medium to her, would feel like a soft for you. This is because our statures play a big part in how we rest into a mattress.
That being said, I think that latex hybrid is a great choice. If you get it in the king or cal king, your side could be firm (which would feel more like a med/firm for you) and your partner could get the medium side. Both feels would be good for side and back sleeping. Latex is a material that allows for a lot of airflow going through it. This means that no mater what latex mattress you choose, you should not have to worry about heat being trapped and accumulating underneath you. I also recommend the hybrid latex because of the firmer edge support from the coils lifting you up. You do not get as firm as edge support with the all latex option due to the softer edge. The pocketed coils in the Latex Hybrid are coils that are not interlocked. This means that movement is more isolated and should not be anywhere near what you are use to with your old Simmons Beautyrest. Hope this helps in your decision making! Please feel free to reach out if you need anymore guidance.
