config for a luma was created by ducksmack
side sleeper here.

i think Luma might be the best bet for me. i dont trust myself to DIY with a manufacturer.

what configuration options do i have with them? their web site doesnt seem to suggest any. but TMU says there are layer specs i could choose from.

also, in general, what kind of layer choices do i want to pursue given the following.

currently sleeping on a helix. it is good. no issues with support. i wake up with some stifness in shoulders and hips, but this is i think unavoidable given i am a former athlete who doesnt workout, 40 and work 80hr weeks at a desk. i guess this means comfort layers need improvement, and i am hoping switch to latex helps. i am 5'9 155.

I think i need something that lets me sink in a bit more. but i also need responsiveness so my body doesnt get stuck in one position. and support layer config perhaps similar to helix. i suspect a thin topper is appropriate so i dont jump a specific need given i feel like i am in the specific needs category.

here is my config of my helix (no latex which they discontinued in dec 16)-
Polyfoam base layer, then micro-coils, then Helix Dynamic Foam, then Polyfoam top layer

The base layer of polyfoam is 4.5 inches and the remaining layers are all 2 inches.

"The compression of each layer (mainly controlled by thickness, firmness, compression modulus, hysteresis, and position along with a few other specs) are what creates the pressure relieving cradle of a mattress in the top layers which re-distributes weight and pressure on the bony prominences and pressure points of the body while the resistance to further compression of the deeper layers is what "stops" the heavier parts of the body from sinking down too far and putting the spine and joints out of their natural alignment. "
