More than one comfort layer on Luma Latex Slumber System?

After trying a Nolah bed and finding it didnt provide me support I looked into Luma. After taking to customer support, they recommended the Latex Slumber System. I recently purchased it with the 2 inch talalay comfort layer in plush. Upon receiving the mattress and placing the comfort layer, I find the mattress to be far too firm. I do have lower back issues and have rather large hips (weight about 265). The firmness of the mattress causes my hips and lower back to hurt. I also was missing the feeling of sinking into the mattress as I felt like I was lying on top of the mattress. I did a comfort exchange for the 3 inch soft comfort level. I have been sleeping with this comfort level and still find that I'm "bottoming out" onto the mattress and still having significant pressure on my hips and lower back. I am wondering if adding a second 3 inch soft comfort layer would do the trick or if I should consider a memory foam layer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

From the description of your discomfort and your size I believe that you'd be better matched with a medium firmness comfort layer which would provide better support and prevent you from bottoming out. Soft Talalay is generally not recommended for sleepers over ~220 lbs. since it will compress too easily and lack sufficient support. Adding another 3" of soft latex for a 6" total would be far too thick and soft of a comfort layer which would very likely cause alignment problems and lower back pain. I would definitely look for guidance from Luma Sleep since they know their product best, but I'd think you might be better matched to a medium firmness comfort layer. Good luck and sorry that it hasn't worked out so far but with their help hopefully you're only a layer swap away from getting good sleep. - Bill

Hello BrittanyLauren & Sweet Dreams,

Thanks, Sweet Dreams for your independent perspective. You are correct in your assessment of the need for a medium firmness latex layer. Luma Sleep did not learn of the customer's physical specifications until after she initiated our free comfort exchange. She has been subsequently provided a 3" medium Talalay latex layer to use in addition to the original and/or exchange pillow tops as a means to address her hip/lower back discomfort.

Thanks for your support,

Team Luma
