Reverie or Leggett and Platt, who makes the best and most reliable adjustable bed base?

I was going to order the new Leggett and Platt Premier P-132 from Richmond Bedding ( Tim is a straight shooter ) as they have a limited lifetime parts warranty ( yes it includes ALL of the electrical parts too!!) but it's on back order until May 1st as they are selling like hotcakes apparently. This is the most established brand in adjustable power bases but I've also really liked the new Reverie brand although I don't know much about them personally. They have a new 8Q with all of the bells and whistles and it's more readily available as of right now. The mfr. warranty is really a "numbers game" as they claim it is warranted for 20 years but if you read the fine print this covers the metal frame and nothing else to the full 20yrs, lol. After just 1yr. you lose the labor portion and after years 2 and 3 are over you lose the mfr. parts warranty too. It's hard to find someone out there willing to offer a longer warranty that does include both the parts AND labor for the test of time challenge. Well I found a company called Plush Beds that does offer the Reverie 8Q AND you can get much better warranty protection from them. They have optional coverage up to 10 years with in home service including parts and labor!! Should I go for the Reverie or for the L&P, or is there even a better brand to buy over both of these in your opinion? I'm sure there are members on here that own power adjustable platforms. I've never owned one and unsure if they are prone to break or not. If anyone owns either of the models I mentioned I would love to hear from you for your input. Thanks!!

Hi Wrewster,

You are the only one that can decide this and I would choose between them based on price and features comparisons that include the features and benefits that are most important to you (see post #3 here and the adustable bed topic it links to).

We have owned a Reverie Deluxe for almost 5 years and we still enjoy it and have never had any issues although I would consider all the main manufacturers to be reliable. We use the position adjustment frequently although we don't use the massage feature nearly as much as we thought we would when we purchased it.

We decided on the Reverie 8Q bases and it was for 2 reasons. One was they were more readily available than the Leggett and Platt P-132 Premier. Secondly, was the dealer we purchased it from worked in a 10-year extended warranty that includes both parts and labor with in home service. The L&P does have a limited lifetime parts warranty offered by Richmond Bedding but we felt that us not having to do anything other than make the phone call was the easier way to go. Can't wait until these arrive!!

I wanted to comment on your thread as I am in the same situation as you. I am trying to choose between the same two adjustables. I feel the Reverie is certainly a better value for the money however I try to prefer american made products over made in china anyday but there is a limit to my wallet. The similar competing product from Reverie the 8q is around $3000 and the L&P P232 is around $5100 for a king size. So when it comes to almost double the cost, I feel making the choice you did was wise, find a dealer willing to offer a full extended warranty to cover both parts and labor including the electronics and motors.

So with all that said, how do you like the Reverie?

Any regrets?

Is the head(pillow) tilt really an advantage over the 7S which doesn't have it?

Hi paulieb81,

FWIW the Reverie 7D has been made in their manufacturing plant in Silver Creek, NY since the beginning of 2013 ( see here ). I would guess that the 8Q is probably being made there as well.

The prices get a WHOLE LOT closer if you're willing to pick up the phone. Dealers have to abide by Internet Minimum Advertising Policy (IMAP) or they won't be a dealer for long.

AND....the 10 year parts and labor warranties cost a whopping total of about $65.80.

But these warranties are full of loopholes like using re-conditioned parts....etc.....

My customers who are (usually) willing to read all the terms and conditions do NOT like the 10 year Warranty which is available from only two companies and worded the same.

More power foundation companies are switching to assembly here in the USA, but that doesn't mean that the product is completely domestic. Some companies are importing most of the parts and then putting things together here stateside. They can save more money in transit (less empty air in the container on the ship) and then apply that money to the higher labor costs here. It's nice to see more of that happening - creating more jobs here at home, or extra hours for those already employed..
