Is the "split" noticeable?

For a queen mattress with a split between, is the zippered cover enough to not feel the split between the two mattresses? My wife "tends" to end up in the middle of the bed and was wondering how noticeable the split was? Thanks!

I'll assume that you're asking about layers that are split within one queen sized cover (for a his & hers sides) and the answer is no, you won't feel the split. There is an inch of wool in the cover that keeps you from feeling the split, and the tightness of the cover holds everything together.

Thank you. I didn't want to waste any more time looking at split style mattresses if you could feel it.

Sorry to highjack this thread. I am contemplating the same. For a king mattress with 5 latex layers it was suggested to me to have at least 2 of the layers the same. The bottom firm and top comfort layer. So is that not even necessary? The quilt cover will make the split not noticeable?

I need more information to answer your question. How thick is the cover, is it a quilted cover, why does the mattress have 5 layers and how thick are the layers? If they're suggesting to get the top and bottom layers not split, it's likely that they recommended that because their cover is thin enough that you would feel the split.

We got to go to a mattress store and actually lay on few mattresses. I forgot to purposely feel for the split, so the fact that I laid on multiple split mattresses and didn't notice any gap shows how much of a non-issue it is.

Out of all of the combinations we laid on, my wife and I narrowed our choices down to two. We tested out Savvy Rest Serenity mattresses. We would like to support our local business but the costs are so much higher and we like everything we have read about SleepEZ on these forums (not just the great pricing). We need help deciding on a comparable SleepEZ combo. The SleepEZ website suggests we go S, M, F but with our Savvy Rest experience our favorite choices were these two:
Option 1:
Soft Talalay
Soft Dunlop
Medium Dunlop
Option 2:
Soft Dunlop
Medium Dunlop
Soft Dunlop

I'm 6'2 165lbs and my wife is 5'4 115 lbs. Our current mattress is giving me some major hip pain and causing my hamstrings and IT band to be tight. My wife has some shoulder pain. We are both side sleepers. We both sit in bed and read in the morning and at night, which makes the indentations even worse.

I’m glad to hear you were able to try a few mattresses in a few configurations, that can certainly help when purchasing a mattress online. Based on the two configurations you like, I think it would be best to start with soft Talalay/soft Dunlop/medium Dunlop. Having a top Talalay layer will certainly help your wife avoid shoulder pain and will help you avoid hip pain as well. If you sleep on this and find that it’s too soft you can unzip the cover and rearrange the layers to soft Dunlop/soft Talalay/medium Dunlop, soft Talalay/medium Dunlop/soft Dunlop, medium Dunlop/soft Talalay/soft Dunlop, or even medium Dunlop/soft Dunlop/soft Talalay. If you sleep on the mattress and have any problems, really, you can adjust the layers or request a layer exchange to get the mattress dialed in to your specific needs & preferences. Really the best thing you can do is pick the setup that has the best chance to be successful for you and adjust from there (if needed), and that’s exactly what you’ve done so I think you’re in great shape on this purchase. Please remember that we’ve been in business for 43 years and we do an outstanding job of getting our customers on the right mattress from the start. We also do an outstanding job of helping our customers get their mattress dialed in, so if you sleep on the mattress and need to make any changes please contact us and we’ll let you know what the next best step is.

Thank you for your response. Wasn't sure how long it was going to take to make a decision on a new mattress but with your feedback and all of the extensive information found on this website, I am very confident we are going to have the best mattress we have ever had. Just placed my order and can't wait. The Sleep EZ website was also very easy to use, that along with the sale and the discount code I found on the mattress underground, made the purchasing process go better than expected.

Thanks again, if I need any guidance as soon as we receive our mattress I'll reach out.
