Hi,
I’m looking for some help in choosing a new bed.
I just looked at the Dormeo 6800 at Sleep Country and felt that it was just what we were looking for as far as softness in a Mattress. You don’t have that sunken feeling and it is more of a floating sensation because it is easy to change positions. After looking at reviews I would say that I have a substantial concern over the quality and longevity of the mattress. Most of the reviews (which were hard to find) all seem to be negative. Presently I have a deposit on it which is fully refundable.
I have also been looking at beds on Costco.ca and there are 2 beds that are offered by NSC Medical, the Pressure Balance Latex System and the Rejuvenate.
The reviews on Costco are all positive but I’m wondering if anyone else has any thoughts. I am a side sleeper and use a CPAP so when I sleep I don’t move until I wake up with a very sore hip. My wife complains also of a sore shoulder again due to the firmness of the mattress. We have a Serta IComfort Savant which to the best of my knowledge is a firm mattress. It was purchased 6 years ago and is still comfortable for short periods of time but offers little pressure point relief.
I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions anyone has. I would like to stay below $2000

Thanks so much in advance for any help.

Hello SOREHIPS341,

Thank you for posting on The Mattress Underground. I will do my best to guide you in your research.

You can see there have been Mattress Underground conversations about Dormeo mattresses that you can find here.
Let me add that they are now one of our Trusted Members so you can ask a question in their forum and get all of the information you need on the current mattress line-up they offer. Just follow this Link and click on the green box that says New Topic.

I have also been looking at beds on Costco.ca and there are 2 beds that are offered by NSC Medical, the Pressure Balance Latex System and the Rejuvenate.

I looked at the information provided by NSC Medical, and what is lacking is the quality specifications on the components they use.
Step 3 of the Mattress Durability Guideline can help you understand what to look for. Then you will need to contact Customer Service at NSC Medical and find out what ILD they use in their foam.

Latex is temperature neutral when it comes to sleeping, and good quality Latex can provide excellent support for many years. You may consider reaching out to some of our Trusted Members who focus on Latex for additional information.

I hope the information I have provided helps you get additional spec's on the mattresses you are looking at.

Sincerely,
Debbie Lewis

Thanks for the info Debbie,

Just one thing I'd like to point out the Dormeo is not a trusted member, it is Dormio….close in spelling for sure.

We actually tested some Berkeley Ergo mattresses at the Mattress and Sleep Company in Calgary which we felt were a good choice. There was a zoned 10" Talalay Latex mattress that checked all the boxes but was quite expensive at $5800.

I have to say that mattress shopping is exhausting and who do you believe because a number of retailers want to just make a sale. We have decided against the Dormeo bad as there doesn't seem to be any positive, or at least many positive reviews. I did find some reviews on the bed in Europe and the customer service rating on nearly every one was 1 out of 5 so not worth the expense of the bed.

I'm also still considering the 2 NSC Costco beds but again it is very hard to find any reviews. The big issue is how do they fell when you lie on them and buying online represents a hit and miss opportunity because firmness and feel is subjective. On the positive side Costco takes the mattress back if you don't like it.

Thanks for taking the time to share your wisdom.

Hello SOREHIPS341,

I am so sorry I confused those two companies. However, now it makes sense why the Mattress Underground posts did not embrace the quality, and yet added them as a Trusted Partner. Phoenix is extremely careful of who is invited to join this team. I felt perhaps they had increased their quality dramatically. Mattress Underground did not add Dormeo as the partner, they added Dormio Organic Beds. Dormio has a wonderful reputation as a company that makes high quality products.

On the positive side Costco takes the mattress back if you don't like it.

We always stress to check out the return policy for any bed you buy online, and Costco does have a good policy. As long as you have a Costco close by you should feel confident you have the ability to return the mattress if you don't like it after a 90 day break in period.
I will stick with my original suggestion of calling NSC Medical Customer Service and asking about the component specifications. That is your best bet for determining if your bed will hold up and last as long as you expect.
I hope you looked at the post on Mattress Durability I suggested in the last post. This is a good way to understand what you are getting in the mattress.

I have to say that mattress shopping is exhausting and who do you believe because a number of retailers want to just make a sale.

I understand what you are saying, and hope that by doing research on The Mattress Underground, we have helped make the process a little easier.

I wish you success in finding a mattress that gives you many years of healthy sleep.

Sincerely,
Debbie Lewis
